An Essential Guide To PBP Etiquette
So it looks like you been invited to participate in a play-by-post game, be it a standard RPG, a Freeform game, or even a Quest Thread. You're eager to start, and that's good.
BUT HOLD ON THERE JUST ONE SECOND, SLICK!
There's some rules that you need to see before you start posting in any sort of thread in this section of the board; many Storytellers and Game Masters take their game very seriously, and expect to receive the same level of courtesy and dedication they put into their games. While many of these rules are simply to keep games from spiraling into a chaotic, disorganized state, others are fairly obvious and standard rules followed by all forums and image boards.
When posting in a Games In Progress thread, please keep the following rules in mind:
1. Don't Double-Post
When you post an action your character does, be sure to get it all down in a single post and wait for the GM and your fellow players to respond. If you've made a mistake and need to edit a post, be sure to notify your GM and/or other players, as actions posted in these sorts of games have more weight to them than other mediums.
2. Only Post In Games You're In
While this should be fairly obvious, some people are disruptive and simply like to troll games, be it out of boredom, pettiness, or any other reason. Unauthorized posts in games made by people not involved in them will result in a ban, unless there's been some sort of mistake.
3. Rule Zero Is God
In their threads, anything the GM says, goes. They can feel free to disregard the first two rules in their own campaigns if they feel like it, and can enforce their own rules if they choose. Pay attention to what your GM posts and be sure to keep up with their rules for a smooth ride.
4. This Is Emmori's Basement
Just have fun; that's what this board is about. Don't be an ass, don't shitpost, and we're cool.
That about covers it. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a PM at your leisure.
